The Bundeswehr is consistently advancing its modernization efforts: BAAINBw has fully invoked the framework contract for 250,000 G95A1/KA1 assault rifles
• Full realization of the framework agreement for a total of 250,000 G95A1/KA1 assault rifles
• Important milestone in the introduction of the Bundeswehr’s new standard assault rifle
• Long-term investments ensure industrial capacity and delivery capability
• Heckler & Koch confirms its ability in implementing large-scale procurement projects
The Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology, and Utilization of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) has fully invoked the framework contract for a total of 250,000 G95A1/KA1 assault rifles. This marks the full implementation of the introduction of the Bundeswehr’s new standard assault rifle and represents another important step in the modernization of the German armed forces.
The decision underscores the importance of a forward-looking and consistent procurement policy for the Bundeswehr’s operational readiness. At the same time, it confirms confidence in Heckler & Koch’s ability to execute large-scale procurement projects reliably, on schedule, and in large quantities.
Heckler & Koch had already delivered the first G95A1/KA1 assault rifles to the Bundeswehr in December 2025. Now that the contract volume has been fully invoked, the process of equipping the troops with the new standard assault rifle is moving forward steadily.
“The modernization of the Bundeswehr is a national task. The BAAINBw is making a decisive contribution to this by implementing complex procurement projects with a high degree of professionalism and strategic foresight. The full award of the G95A1/KA1 framework contract is a testament to our trusting collaboration and, at the same time, an important signal for further strengthening the operational readiness of our armed forces,” says Dr.-Ing. Jens Bodo Koch, CEO of H&K AG.
“This decision also confirms our long-term corporate strategy. Industrial capability does not arise only upon receipt of an order, but through continuous investment over many years. Anyone who wants to equip armed forces quickly and reliably must create the necessary capacities before they are needed. Our investments in recent years now enable us to implement even large procurement programs reliably and at high speed.”
Heckler & Koch has consistently expanded its industrial base in recent years. Following the successful completion of the HK100 investment program, the company is continuing its growth trajectory with the HK Evolution program. In total, Heckler & Koch is investing more than 230 million euros in additional production capacity, modern manufacturing technologies, infrastructure, and the further development of its international locations.
In this way, the company is laying the groundwork to reliably supply national and international armed forces over the long term, even for large-scale procurement projects. The full implementation of the G95A1/KA1 framework agreement thus symbolizes both the Bundeswehr’s consistent modernization efforts and the capabilities of a strong German security and defense industry as a reliable partner to the armed forces.
